A bit about me

Hello, I’m Lauren.

I’m a single mother to Jackson and Annabelle. I reference my children (with their permission) because, as this blog is centred on raising and educating children with a global mindset, I write about my real-life experience doing just that.

I have been a preschool teacher/early childhood education rockstar for over 11 years. The library is my happy place and I recently completed post-graduate study in information services. Some day in the not-so-distant future you may find me conducting storytime at your local library.

I have lived on three different continents in two hemispheres; I am American by birth, Australian by conferral and a past long-term resident of Eastern China. 我 中文名字叫陆雯. I now live in Melbourne, Australia—Naarm. Naarm is the name of Melbourne in Woiwurrung, the language of the Wurundjeri people, the original inhabitants and custodians of this land.

I am a native English speaker, passable Mandarin speaker and wishful Spanish speaker.

I love books, food, Netflix and knowledge.

My current theme song is ‘Final Form’ by Sampa the Great. Watch the video, it’s mesmerising!

My childhood was in America, so my children call me mom. On this blog I will refer to mothers as mom or mum depending on cultural context.

I’m happy you’re here.
